Beat to the Balance Workshop

Mari Keski-Korsu

Beat to the Balance -workshop is an introduction to the inter-species forest communication. We get to know different kinds of tree species and their affects in sauna for body, spirit and mind. This happens especially trough whisking treatments. The whisking combine tree healing, the psychosomatic experience of sauna, plant mythology and aroma-therapeutic effects of different plants. It creates an overall conscious, even fierce touch. It enables the holistic power of different tree species, re-connection to the communicating systems of the forests and opens the locks of trauma we carry due to the humans' exploitation of the Earth.

According to the workshop facilitator, artist Mari Keski-Korsu trees, sauna and whisking are essential not only for their health and relaxation benefits but for enhancing empathy, and trough empathy creating a balanced existence in the ecosystem we live within. The aim is to revitalise ourselves-care and skinship that are among the building blocks of the new narrative for the humanity when heading to post-fossil, post-human, post-trump and post-post era.

Bring your own towel, something to drink (preferably non-alcoholic) and some snack. We are having a mixed sauna, wearing a swimsuit is okay but not recommended. There's a barbecue possibility outdoors, in the front of the sauna: bring your own seitan sausages.
